It was Marquez domination once again in 2025 as Marc and Alex returned to the top 2 spots on the podium for both the Sprint and Grand Prix at Aragon this weekend. Here’s another weekend review, as I round up this weekend’s activity.
As always, here’s a reminder of the categories – Rider of the Weekend (not necessarily the rider who left the weekend with the most points, but somebody who really impressed), Most Improved (either throughout the course of the weekend, from one weekend to another, or perhaps over a longer period of time), Best Overtake (this one feels obvious), Head-in-Hands Moment (a moment from either the Sprint or the Sunday race that left me shouting “NO!” at the screen), and Best in Show (the overall best rider from the weekend).
Rider of the Weekend: For his superb battles throughout the Sprint and Sunday’s race, and achieving another Sprint podium, my rider of the weekend is Fermin Aldeguer.
Most Improved: Finishing 10th in the Sprint and Sunday’s race, and narrowly missing out on going through to Q2, Raul Fernandez is my most improved. Though he’s finished in the points across most races so far this season, this weekend was more consistent than many across 2025, and I’m hoping this is a sign of good things to come.
Best Overtake: Although a lot of his overtakes across the weekend were fantastic, I’ve chosen Fermin Aldeguer’s overtake on Morbidelli with 3 laps to go during Saturday’s Sprint. It was a great battle to watch, and a well-deserved podium for Aldeguer.
Head-in-Hands Moment: After his heartbreak at Silverstone, Fabio Quartararo needed a race weekend that would boost his confidence, and sadly this wasn’t provided at Aragon. Quartararo’s crash out of Sunday’s race certainly won’t have helped his current mindset, but hopefully the Test day will provide him with some much-needed optimism.
Best in Show: Doing the double, and achieving his 7th Grand Prix victory at Aragon, best in show yet again in 2025 is Marc Marquez.
